A DEV Community n8n review recounts a Dubai client workflow that watches Gmail for invoice emails, pulls PDF attachments, and sends them to an OpenAI vision model to extract vendor, amount, line items, and dates. The agent checks the extracted items against a Google Sheets inventory database, creates a purchase order in the client ERP when amounts look reasonable, notifies purchasing in Slack, and replies to the original email to confirm receipt. The finished scenario used 23 nodes and moved the client from manually processing 40–50 invoices a week—about two hours a day—to roughly 90% automatic processing, saving an estimated 8–10 hours weekly. An operations manager was trained in about two hours to adjust validation rules without calling the builder.
