Best AI agents in 2026: 12 agents compared by published data, not star ratings
The best AI agent depends on the job. We compare 12 agents and platforms by type, published pricing, and sourced use cases, with every fact linked.
The best AI agent is the one built for the job you need done: personal agents like Grok Bot, OpenAI dots, Muse, and Claude Duet work on their own cloud computer for one person, while platforms like Zapier Agents, n8n, Make, Lindy, and Relevance AI run repeatable workflows for a team. We don’t score agents or publish star ratings. Instead, we compare the 12 agents in our catalogue on what their makers actually publish: what type of agent it is, how it’s priced, and how many documented use cases we could source for it.
Our best AI agents list orders all 12 by how complete their sourced data is. This post explains that method and turns the same data into a practical shortlist by job.
The 12 AI agents at a glance
Counts are indexable use cases in our catalogue as of November 2, 2026. Pricing is quoted from each vendor’s own page on the date we last checked it; where we couldn’t capture a clean number, we say so instead of guessing.
| Agent | Maker | Type | Published pricing (as captured) | Sourced use cases |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| n8n | n8n | Workflow builder | Community Edition free self-hosted; Cloud Starter from 20€/mo billed annually (pricing) | 239 |
| Zapier Agents | Zapier | Platform | Agents add-on has a free tier of 400 activities/mo; Pro Agents from about $33.33/mo billed annually (pricing) | 101 |
| Lindy | Lindy | Platform | $50 free credits; paid from $49.99/mo per active user (pricing) | 35 |
| Relevance AI | Relevance AI | Platform | Enterprise custom; no self-serve prices captured (pricing) | 16 |
| Grok Bot | Cursor / xAI | Personal agent | Included with paid Cursor plans; x.ai lists Premium at $30/mo (x.ai/bot) | 8 |
| Make AI Agents | Make | Workflow builder | Free plan with 1,000 credits/mo; paid plans billed in credits (pricing) | 8 |
| Claude Duet | Anthropic | Personal agent | Research preview waitlist for US Claude Pro and Max (help article) | 7 |
| OpenAI dots | OpenAI | Personal agent | Rolling out to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium in eligible markets; first dot included (help article) | 5 |
| Claude | Anthropic | Platform | Free; Pro $20 monthly; Max from $100/mo (pricing) | 5 |
| CrewAI | CrewAI | Framework | Open source; enterprise by demo, no public price captured (crewai.com) | 5 |
| Muse | Meta | Personal agent | Free with a usage limit; Power $20/mo; Maximum $100/mo (Meta help) | 4 |
| ChatGPT Work | OpenAI | Platform | Access expands on paid ChatGPT plans (pricing) | 0 |
A higher use-case count means the vendor publishes more detailed examples, usually in a template gallery. It doesn’t mean the agent is better at any one job.
How we rank the best AI agents
Every agent in the catalogue gets the same six checks: a sourced summary, an official website, pricing notes or a published starting price, at least one source URL, a date we last checked it, and an agent type. Our best AI agents page orders agents by how many of those fields are filled, and breaks ties alphabetically. Right now all 12 agents have all six, which is why we lean on type and use cases, not a single score, to tell them apart.
What we deliberately leave out:
- Star ratings and reviews. We don’t invent or scrape them.
- Benchmarks we didn’t run. If a vendor publishes a number, we quote it with a link; we don’t add our own.
- Use cases without a source. An example only counts when a vendor or official page describes it in enough detail to say what the agent does. Thin entries stay noindex until they’re enriched. The full rules are on our methodology page.
Best AI agents by type
Personal agents with their own computer
Grok Bot, OpenAI dots, Muse, and Claude Duet are built to work for one person while they’re away.
- Grok Bot runs named Bots on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, file system, and terminal, so work continues when your laptop is closed, according to Cursor’s docs. Its published examples include overnight sales research that returns a review list without sending anything.
- OpenAI dots are always-on agents in ChatGPT with their own cloud computer, reachable in ChatGPT, Slack, and Teams, per OpenAI. One published example is a dot that turns interview transcripts into clips, show notes, and social drafts.
- Muse from Meta completes multi-step tasks on an isolated Linux and browser environment and asks before sensitive actions, according to Meta. Meta’s examples include goal action plans.
- Claude Duet is Anthropic’s proactive agent in research preview: it works while you’re away and asks before it sends, pays, signs, or deletes, per Anthropic. See its morning brief example.
